Can't Access Electric Network GUI

Hi All,

In the last few hours Factorio has stopped opening the electric network on left-click from a power pole.
In fact, left clicking a power pole disconnects all wires from it (like shift-left-click should). Shift-left-click does nothing.

Starting a new game/new save doesn't fix it.

Is this a bug or have I messed something up?

Running Version: 0.13.20, no mods.

Assuming you haven't got a stuck key, check your keybindings.

Thanks, I presume there's no stuck key as I can type this message WITHOUT CAPS and holding either shift key while left-clicking stops wires from being disconnected from poles, therefore both keys work.

As for the key bindings, I never changed any from their defaults. To be sure, I just reset them to default. Didn't fix.

Any other ideas?

Shift Click is, in theory, the only other way you could get that behaviour. Is Caps Lock on? That would allow you to type lowercase while holding shift, but doesn't explain how you're doing caps in your post.

Last thing I can possibly think of is you might have mods that are messing with it?

Yeah, capslock makes sense, but no dice, both with it on and off.

Also, vanilla install - no mods.

Can you download the .zip-version (0.13.20 and/or 0.14.13) from the website and see if that works?
That way we can eliminate any problems caused by file corruption or factorio settings.

Downloaded .zip fixed it.

Must've been file corruption.
I didn't suspect file corruption as I would expect more severe flakiness from corrupt files. Lesson learnt.

Solved.

EDIT: Fun side-effect of transplanting my save-game spawned more enemy bases throughout and in between my factories. Now I'm stranded in my oil-district. Enjoying the new challenge though. Thanks again.

BTW, in case you want to continue using the installer (or Steam) version then this should also solve it:

• uninstall the currently installed version (if any)
• go to %appdata%\Factorio
• backup the saves and mods folder
• delete the %appdata%\Factorio folder
• (Steam only) delete the Steam\SteamApps\common\Factorio folder
• re-install Factorio
