Cannot connect to friends server

Hi Factorio Forums.

So my friend and I have been playing factorio together recently, with me hosting the server. We are using Evolve to do this. Everything works just fine doing it this way but as I don't live in a big city (as my friend does) it would be better if he hosted and I connect to him. This would be great but I cannot connect to him, every time I do I get this error:

Cannot load downloaded map: Error while applying migration: Base Mod: 2014-01-28_Factorio_0.9.0.lua
Cannot execute command. Error: [string "if game.is_demo() then..."]:5: attempt to index field 'player' (a nil value)

I don't know what this means or how to fix it. It only happens when I try connecting with him, the map downloads but just before connecting that error pops up. Factorio then freezes and I have to open task manager and restart the program.

I have tried fixing by reinstalling Factorio to no effect (thinking it may be something out of date and a fresh install would help). I am running Windows 10 Education and he has Windows 10 Home edition.
If anyone has any ideas, suggestions or solutions, or can decipher that error code I would be very grateful. I can provide more details if necessary.

Actually managed to fix it, I reinstalled a 2nd time (because I forgot to actually get rid of the game files the 1st time) and now it works. If anyone else gets this error just delete the game files and reinstall
