[SOLVED] moving save from appdata/roaming to package /save?

Post by impetus maximus »

is there any special needed to be done to move or copy a save from the steam version (0.14.13) to the package version?
i tried just copying it but it says "Could not read input file. File could be corrupted." when i try and play it in the packaged version of the game.
the save is not corrupted and plays fine in the steam install.

thanks

By package I assume you mean the factorio.zip version from factorio.com

If this is the case everything should work just fine if

You are moving/copying the save.ZIP file (and not the contents), and the package version is a higher or equal version than the steam version, AND you have read/write access in the package version location. AND you are not moving the config folder from appdata. AND the zip file isn't actually corrupt due to a bad transfer (you can check the hash of both files here to confirm the file is the same (I have not used this so I make no claims the validity or security of this site http://onlinemd5.com/))

If it is still giving you issues after that try deleting your config folder from the package location. If it is still not working try uploading your factorio logfile
