HardCrafting is dedicated at making the resource processing more complex, which requires you to build more clever setups. This gives you however also the advantage of refining more plates out of the ores than before.

I would suggest to add a burner crusher and another recipe so one can actually automate a low yield smelting setup early, maybe need to crush the nuggets and make them smeltable only after some research, so ore yield would increase gradually.

Will the mod be updated for 14.0?
I recently started another playthrough with HardCrafting and I'm stuck playing Factorio 0.13.19.

Hi mattj256,

Yes I will definitely update the mod asap :P It's so hard to keep up with the speed of the factorio dev team :D
Unfortunately I was without internet connection the last two weeks but now I will try to catch up again with the releases.
I will keep you informed here on the thread when I finished the update.

Hi all,

The update for Factorio 0.14.3 is here :P Please note that I also updated a few other things:

Updates and changes for 0.5.0
- support Factorio 0.14.3
- added rich-iron-ore: can be smelted or crushed and gives an initial simpler production chain
- harder stone: mining gives stone+gravel, new recipes stone is crushed into bricks, stone can be pulverized to gravel, dirt+stone will no longer give gravel
- new technology icons + updated animation for big-processing-machine (Thanks to YohanuiBabai)
- adapted landfill recipe to match new landfill item size (20 dried dirt = 1 landfill)
- rewrote spawning for rich-copper-ore
- fix technology order
- updated russian translation (Thanks to CapBuran)


As always please report issues on Github or in the forum. (On the mod portal I don't get an email unfortunately).

Hi there. It seems that Rich Iron Ore does not spawn with RSO but the Copper Ore does. Is it a problem with Rich Iron Ore or did HardCrafting never meant to work with RSO.

@Patchi, orzelek: If I recall correctly RSO prevents any ore which it doesn't know from spawning ;) Though thanks for the quick update from RSO! I should remember to send you a PM when I got the great idea to add another resource again :P

Thanks you all. It's working now. RSO update did the trick. Grate mod btw. It makes the game so much harder early game tho, I mean with everything producing 2 or more items, first thing everyone has to research is filter inserters. Also I made some changes to stack sizes, x10 everything. Even with warehousing mode its huge without bigger stack sizes. Anyways again grate mod.

Did you make a change to coal?

Last game I played on 0.13.x, coal was giving me coal 'ore', 2 other forms of coal, and dirt.

Now, on 0.14.x, coal is just giving me coal 'ore', and 1 other form of coal (the roundish icon, not the pile icon), and no dirt.

Perhaps that depended on another mod I am not using now?

Given the choice, I would rather have the 4-type of result instead of the 2-type of result now. No functional reason for it. More types just make things more complicated. :)

Haha, no not that I would know of this. What other mods are you using?
Actually coal always gave just the two (coal, coal dust) ;)

Hmm... then I'm not sure where the other coal and dirt type came from...

I apparently don't have the mod that added them, loaded, this time around...

I do know the additional coal type had a conical coal dust icon, and the kind of dirt it was giving, said in the description that it had some organic fossils or something in it as well... I was getting that dirt with other ore types as well.

This dirt was different than the dirt you can place on the ground.

Anyways, no biggie... sometimes hard to keep track of which mod is doing what. :)

Hi,

After an update of "Angel's Petro Chemical Processing" HardCrafting started to crash at Factorio's start with an error:

Failed to load mod "hardCrafting 0.5.0"
__hardCrafting__/data-final-fixes.lua:7: __hardCrafting__/prototypes/easier-but-more-trains.lua:3: attempt to perform arithmetic on field '?' (a nil value)

Are you working on compatibility with mods that add additional resources like Reactors by Gotlag (uranium) or bob's mods (a lot)? Is there an easy way to add gravel, stone, dirt, slag, etc., to any new resources?

Well it does say under the to do header that adding support for other mods' resources is on the list.

That said, any progress on that part? I'm kinda jonesing for a new version of this so I can go back to mining Bobs' ores instead of having to process Angels' six types.
