I make an official report because we discussed, but there is no reaction...
I can understand that 0.13 mods are made incompatible with facto 0.14 to force maintenance and filter out deprecated mods.
BUT people staying in 0.13 should NOT be proposed to update their mods in version 0.14 of the mod.
That is the case for the moment. And when you see the yellow color on an "updatable" mod, you cannot see if you are going to a 0.14 version of the mod, so player cannot even check.
It really put the mess. People who stay in 0.13 (current stable version, basic players on steam), will have their mods all broken because updated in 0.14. And they do not understand. And often they don't know how to revert manually to last 0.13 version of their mods.
You should correct this before having a revolution or a mass desertion of players.
Do not forget that players that started a map with a bunch of mods cannot play their map anymore with this problem.
And players moving to 0.14 cannot play either because half of their mods are not updated to 0.14 yet, even if they theoritically work (it's just a json line to change...). Personaly, to play my map under 0.14, I had to manually edit all the JSON of mods that I do not own. I doubt that every player will do that.
Please take the real measure of the problem.

[0.14] wrong mod update to 0.14, even if client in 0.13...
Re: [0.14] mod update to 0.14, even if client in 0.13...
As far as i can tell this is resolved with 13.19 (at least the issue that mods for 0.14 are updated on a 0.13 client) (Your links seem to all have been reported with 13.18)
Re: [0.14] mod update to 0.14, even if client in 0.13...
OK. I did not test 0.13.19 because it was not written in the release notes.Choumiko wrote:As far as i can tell this is resolved with 13.19 (at least the issue that mods for 0.14 are updated on a 0.13 client) (Your links seem to all have been reported with 13.18)
That's why some people still have the problem.
This mod versioning is really a mess...

Players are lost and modders are lost.

And anyway, people who want to stay in stable version 0.13.19 still ask for modification or bug correction of your mod (I had 2 demands this morning), and you cannot maintain 2 versions in parralel... So "stable" players are screwed...

Fixed in 0.13.19
Re: [0.14] wrong mod update to 0.14, even if client in 0.13...
well it's only half-fixed, because players still have the same problem : mods are not maintained under 2 versions, and mods that migrated to 0.14 cannot be used in the stable 0.13 version anymore.
Please allow something like factorio_version 0.13 AND 0.14
