Multiplayer connection drop out during map load

Hi,

I finally convinced my mate to buy factorio the other night, and i went over to his place and we LAN'd for about 6 hours. Had absolutely no issues.

I've come home today and we've attempted to do a Direct Connect over the internet, and it doesnt matter who is hosting, roughly 5% into downloading the map, the connection will drop. We both have decent bandwidth, but my mate has a small amount of packet loss issues, which would also kick him frequently when we played minecraft.

Was wondering if there is any simple solution to this?
