How do I stop the spawners from reappearing in v0.13?
It seems that the biters worms and spitters can respawn in the same areas where I killed them previously. Putting down chests or other items no longer works? How can I protect areas of the map that I have previously purged without walling them off and putting turrets on the boundaries?

As far as I know there is no such simple way to prevent expansion in vanilla game but there is a mod for that.

Enemy expansion can also be disabled entirely by console command or mod.
The console command is:
/c game.map_settings.enemy_expansion.expansion_enableds = false

No, enemy expansion is part of the game. Within the rules of the unmodded game your only choices are to wall them out or periodically knock them back.

It's a dynamic game. In my experience biters do seem to prefer previously settled spots but that doesn't mean they won't migrate elsewhere. Best way to deal with it is to surround everything with walls, eventually end-game you can wall off a huge area (lakes help to fill in large chunks of this) and kill all the biters inside it, that will stop them migrating in so you don't need to wall all your outposts. You'll still need regular buildings (radars are good to keep visual coverage of your "empire") to stop them spawning but when they attempt to migrate from outside they'll just die on your walls.
Turrets alone probably won't be enough endgame unless you have a solid two-deep wall of laser turrets and a LOT of power so you're better off with dispersed turrets and a wall.
