I am in the midst of launching a new secondary project called AirForce. This is not like other mod where someone add a new vehicle to drive.
This is a genuine bona-fide system for air warfare and air transport.
I been meaning to do this for a long time, but I got bogged down writing code for my Magnetic Floor mod, which is a road transport system for lack of better words.
So what will we see in "AirForce"? Runway, hangars, automated bombing campaigns, and the use of expensive 'rocketfuel'. That sort of things.
What do you guys think?

this will require a lot of work
generally what i like to see:
1) aiports
2) production chain for planes
3) bombing planes (maybe few kinds)
+ production chain for bombs
+ auto bombers
+ control station to deploy bombers
4) transport planes (like trains or robots)

There won't be 'airports' entity, but there will be runways. If you have everything you need to support your airforce, then it's definitely an airport.boksiora wrote:great idea!!

I'd like something like VTOLs and transporters as seen in the game Warzone 2100.
VTOLs:
* Kinda like a long-life attack robot capsule, winged, jet propulsion
* Limited fuel and very limited ammo - must go back to any friendly landing pad to recharge/reload.
* Vertical take off and landing, fast movement (as seen here)
* Can be told to defend an area or specific target (eg. player avatar or friendly building/vehicle)
* Can be told to attack an area or specific target
* Landing pads could be reskinned chests containing liquid fuel and ammo
Transports:
* Like a huge logistics robot, looks a bit like an airship (blimp)
* Slow, weak, only basic gun for defence (as seen here)
* Vertical take off and landing
* Would require special refuelling/loading station (big landing pad)
* Used as alternative to trains; main benefit is that Transports can go over water

Better forum search for modders: Enclose your search term in quotes, eg. "font_color" or "custom-input" - it prevents the forum search from splitting on hypens and underscores, resulting in much more accurate results.
