First of all I would kindly ask not to judge me harshly for the idea. But in the world of money we all understand that development can't be infinite and in the end developers do it for the money. And while spreading the word to make more people join us and buy the game is an option for income but surely this can't last really long.
While introducing paid expansions and DLCs is an option here to fuel future development I will try to introduce an alternative.
Currently we do have a suggestions forum. Thats fine for a first pass on the ideas.
Next we kinda have a "forum-ready" collections that are approved by community. It still lacks some feedback and judgement from developers but you get the idea. Certain suggestions are approved worthy of being added to the game by both players and developers.
I would suggest to make some kind of a portal for such ideas where players could make donations towards implementing them. This will fuel development and act like a natural voting system to find most valuable ideas for the community.
The game is really great and I am sure many players will willingly support developers and get their most wanted features implemented in return.
Even at the current point if getting some additional funding developers might consider expanding to speed up development.
Profit for everyone.
Feature requests via crowdfunding

Re: Feature requests via crowdfunding
We are okay with development funds for now, our steam release was pretty good,
Also the community isn't always the best source for what features to implement,
And we prefer to keep creative control, and not disappoint the community by not implementing 'paid for' features

Nice to hear your funding is fine for now. I do care about future of this game and I want to support it the way I can. And I would gladly donate to help it and I'm sure many people would like it too. In this case it would make me double happier as I would get something in returnKlonan wrote:We are okay with development funds for now, our steam release was pretty good,

I am not trying to get over your creativity control. The features might be added to the portal after your moderation and if you decide it is worthy to get in the game you just add it to the portal. It is more like a ToDo list for you filled by one of you. Sure thing the global ToDo list is a big one and I'm sure it goes far beyond 1 year mark. Such portal besides giving you additional funding would just prioritize one feature over another in the list. Its not just a list of feature requests directly from players.
Anyways please consider something like this. Your project deserves living long and happily.
Re: Feature requests via crowdfunding
Yeah how about a Coca Cola train wagon (the loco is already red ) or anything like that.
Re: Feature requests via crowdfunding
I think their TODO-list is pretty enough for the next 3-5 years.PacifyerGrey wrote:It is more like a ToDo list for you filled by one of you. Sure thing the global ToDo list is a big one and I'm sure it goes far beyond 1 year mark.
And most of it makes no sense in prioritizing, cause it is either straight forward logic (you cannot do this before you don't have that) or cannot be planned so long into future.
Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.

Re: Feature requests via crowdfunding
Maybe it's not the worst idea to create developer's account on patreon for those who want to support devs in advance.
Re: Feature requests via crowdfunding
I already support development of Fortresscraft. 10$/month is not great money to pay, but 10$ * N are good money to get.apriori wrote:Maybe it's not the worst idea to create developer's account on patreon for those who want to support devs in advance.
