[Pending] [0.13.16] failed: Result too large

Post by mkoro1222-factorio »

I have a trouble of saving data.
Data saving sometimes failed and factorio application crashes.
After reboot factorio and the message "failed: Result too large" arise as the picture.
I confirmed the error occured the ver 0.13.16 and 0.13.15.

I encount the error many time and find trend of the situation.
Note, it was just my sense.

The error very often arise the situation when I built many item at a same time using construction robot, such as put 500 concretes.
However, the error also arise the situation when I don't do anything.

Do you have any way to solve this problem?

Do you use a 32bit windows?
Please upload the logs of the other crashes as well and describe in what situation it happened.
Are all the crashes related to the same map?

I use 32 bit windows 8.1 and all crashes happend in the same map.
A log uploaded at the top of the tree is made under the situation building many items at same time.
I add a log under the situation just standing on the map, but about 1k logistic robots work.
The crashing happend about every one in three.

>Smarty
I upload save file.
Because I expand too much area, the save file size around 40 MB.

You're map is so large that it takes up virtually all of the available RAM that a 32 bit application can allocate.

You need to upgrade to a 64 bit operating system.
If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.

Try to grab this mod:
https://mods.factorio.com/mods/orzelek/undecorator
I made it to reduce size of save files and it seemed to work on memory use of game also.

Main drawback for you would be that it will disable your Steam achievements since you will have modded save game (if you are using steam version).

Thank you for teaching a mod.
I haven't use any mod before, but I'll try it and come here to report.

I downloaded factorio from official page, not from steam, but achievements indicated since I use ver 0.13.**.
Could you teach me the place or file where achievements system can be disable?

>Rseding91
My pc has 4GB RAM and about 500 MB unused RAM remains when I play factorio.
My pc is 32 bit OS but, I think lack of memory isn't critical problem.

Having 4GB of RAM installed while using a 32bit OS is kinda silly because you can't even use all of it, why are you still using a 32bit OS?

I use some old devices which doesn't be supported by new OS, therefore I have used 32 bit OS.
However for playing factorio confortably I changed 64bit windows 8.1 yesterday.
Old devices doesn't work on 64bit, but I'll replace these.

>orzelek
I applied your mod on 32bit and 64bit OS.
Unfortunately, factorio can't read save data when activate your mod on 32bit OS.

As I write above I installed 64bit OS, and I applied your mod again.
At that time, factorio read save file, and the size of save data decreases, about 40MB to 20MB.
