Wood is not renewable in factorio. there may be miles of forest, but it cannot be farmed like other resources. maybe late game we could see the building of a factorissmo like greenhouse, where plants can be grown in controlled environments, and harvested of wood and possibly oil, allowing us to produce more oil wherever. saplings can be grown from wood and water, and then more wood and oil can be produced later after everything has grown.

Never used deconstruction tool on the forest in range?
