I've modded in a new constant combinator, with only 5 signal slots (item_slot_count in the definition). In-game, copying settings from a base constant combinator to my CC sets my CC's slot count to 15 until I mine it and place it again. If I copy and paste settings from my CC to a base CC, the base CC is reduced to 5 slots.
The behaviour I expected would be to leave destination slot count intact, and truncate the signal list if the destination CC doesn't have enough slots for all signals.

The wireless mast is of the constant-combinator type, with 5 slots. If you copy its settings to a base constant-combinator, the base CC will be reduced to 5 slots. If you copy a CC to a wireless mast, the mast will have its slots increased to 15.
