Solar Cell Inserters

Post by dinodod »

Nuff said :) Inserters that have a small solar cell in them to power them during the day so you don't need to run a series of power poles (i.e. filling up chests in a remote region)

Nice idea but I suppose it goes to not implement because you can place a normal solar panel next to the inserter.

True but it's more of a visual thing to not see solar panels next to a inserter. Not sure if you have these but here in the States & Italy, we have street signs with integrated solar panels in them.

Why do you think, this is a good idea? Why and when do you need this? What is the added game-value? :)
Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.

You'd still need them linked into the power grid for operation at night unless you're using this in fringe cases, I don't quite get why this is needed.

Ever try to store the world in chests?

And why do you need solar driven inserters for that? :)

Chests with belts and inserters. Ok, fine then, add solar cell power as an option to everything then... Solar cell powered miners, burners, etc :)

No more power poles!!! :) MUHAHAHAAH

Here is another use for them. I'm sure most people use turrets for defense. Setting up hundreds / thousands of these around your bases and then connect power poles to the inserters just to insert ammo from a chest into the turret. That's a huge amount of power poles in remote areas

Instead of chests place a belt that connects all turrets. One side of the belt is magazines. The other coal, wood, every type of fuel you have.

With this construction you only need burner inserters. :)
