[Logistics Robots need to be smarter (Issue with chests)

Post by Benie »

Having this issue. I got a Passive Provider chest that is only used to feed to Red Science production with Copper Plates. And I have two Requester chests that are used to unload trains (via the Logistics Railways mod) with Copper Plates.

When they're on their own separate networks, everything works as planned. But when joined as one network... the drones assume the Passive Provider is there to refill the Requester chests (which are already being filled via trains). It causes an endless, unnecessary loop.
I wish there was a way I could 'one-way' the network, to where the drones will be smart enough to realize that this particular provider chest is NOT to be used to endlessly refill the same requester chests that the copper is coming from!

I literally cannot have nice things here with this setup. But if anyone can help, it would be awesome.
Here's some pictures (the areas of concern are highlighted);

This is in version 0.12.35, by the way. Most of the mods I use aren't updated to 0.13 yet.

Your only 3 options are to either.

1. remove the science provider and belt the copper
2. turn the train requester into an active provider
2b. turn the train requester into an active provider and use smarttrains mod with the robotlogisticscircuit thingy mod to only let the train pick up copper when it < however much.
3. seperate the network

I found a fix. I basically put the source of the copper plates in its own little network(to keep it isolated from the rest of the network), then expanded my other network to cover what was part of the 'copper' network.
This has fixed the problem.

Why exactly does the chest that feeds the red science need to be a logistics chest? Is it not already being fed via inserter from the belt? I propose that the solution is to simply 'demote' the passive provider to either a Smart chest (if you still need circuit network functionality) or else a Steel chest. It should still be getting copper plates from the line being fed by the Requestor chests.
