When placing a belt ending in the middle of an existing underground belt, all items from the new end to the old end will be placed above ground.
I attached a screenshot to make it clear.
The results are especially strange if the space for new items is not available - the items that can't be spawned this way will wait till there's a free spot and then spawn.

True, changed for 0.9.2 (but it still behaves the same way, when it is replaced and there is no owner of the belt (owned by enemy or neutral))
