13.9 Signals placed before rail don't work after rail placed

Post by Atria »

I'm using blueprints to build this juction.

When rail signals are placed before rails (because I place signals into storage chest before rails) some of rail signals don't property update (blinking green-yellow-red). This happens only when blueprint have signal right before junction.

This signal location is valid and when I pick it up and place on same spot, signal works.

Re: [0.13.9] Signals placed by robots not working on juctions

You are placing signals right where junction is. In this case the signal point is merged from two different pieces of rail after they are built. This might require fix ofcourse but I would not recommend you placing signals in this manner in the first place. Place them where there is definitely 1 path near it. And there is absolutely no reason in your case to place double signals. This will only confuse the game and will not make the junction any better. Place a single signal on each spot but so that it touches only a single line. Currently it would be right between your pairs.

I am sure that you will easily reproduce your issue if you will try to construct your junction manually by placing one piece of rail then signal then another. So this does not actually relate to bots. Btw bots do place rails first and only then signals. So they try to prevent this behaviour the best they can.

I think I have seen this issue myself before.
Just as a tip, the chain-signal spamming in the loop has no effect.

That makes sense. I thought it allows another train enter loop sooner, but first train needs to clear entire loop to allow second one in.

Oh... That's what was going on with my signals. I've noticed these weird signals blinking several times and I didn't know what it was. It usually happens when the blueprint is large enough. Maybe there is something different happens when there is not enough construction robots to build it in one sweep. Or maybe something completely different, who knows...

My blueprint that usually causes troubles:

(you can notice two regular and one chain signals blinking yellow)
