Make Copy-Item-Marker more Obvious (Shift-left click after source deconstructed)
Not a bug actually, but feature request. I just had a problem with combinators - added more wires than I wanted, then shift-right clicked on a combinator to remember its settings, then removed the combinator (to rewire), then placed it back, and shift-left-click no longer works. It appears that shift-right-click does not store settings in memory, but keeps a reference instead, so shift-left-click reapplies them from the entity (and if settings changed, it will paste current settings, not settings by the time shift-right-click was performed). I guess it should copy settings into memory as is without any reference to original building. So far workaround is to place temporary entity to copy current setup on it.

That's by design and not worth it to change.
If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.
Re: Shift-left click after source deconstructed
You need a second combinator (or any other entity that you wanted to keep remembered) to do that.
What Rseding tried to explain so detailed is - that you need a bunch of questionable overhead features around this feature to behave it like so.
For example: It's not longer clear then, what's in the copy-buffer. So you suddenly need a user-interface for that.
And the workaround is simple and somehow quite logical.
I would say: won't fix.

Re: Shift-left click after source deconstructed
It's not clear currently as well Game does not highlight copy-paste source (the one shift-right-clicked). It's like clipboard in Windows - you don't remember what's in there, and you frequently don't care because that information is relevant for like 10 seconds after you copied. Anyway, if that's by design - leave it be. Not a big issue I stumbled upon this because I didn't know how to remove red/green wires.
Re: Shift-left click after source deconstructed
Hm. No it highlights it. I'm sure for 0.12 it worked and there was no reason to change this.
If you press shift you will see it.

Yeah, now I see that green rectangle. It looks so organic that I never noticed itssilk wrote:Hm. No it highlights it. I'm sure for 0.12 it worked and there was no reason to change this.

Well, it is not obvious.
I take that as the sole suggestion from this and changed the title.

I think some whitish highlight of the whole building would attract more attention, e.g. the way circuit wires are highlighted.
