Lights set to Circuit Network Signals on Minimap

Post by NegativeTwelfth »

Simply put, I suggest that the map screen show the colour of a circuit network set light on the map instead of the current blue used for standard machines.

Additionally it would probably work best if the map didn't update light colours if the light is under fog of war.

The idea is good, but map update works on changes of the entities on a chunk in a visible range (player range or radar). If that is triggered the game draws then the whole chunk new.

Which means, that you will see map updates on parts of your network with the last state they had when you have been walking by. Which could be quite irritating.

Instead I suggest this: viewtopic.php?f=80&t=18153 Information-Layers (for map and/or normal view)

If you think it's ok, I can add this to that thread.
Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.

So if I understand you correctly, you set a light to blue and walk away, it isn't covered by your vision nor a Radar, and the signal changes to yellow, the map will still show blue?

If so that's exactly what I'd expect and want to happen; you shouldn't know what state the lights are in unless you have active vision in the area.

Please feel free to add it to the bulk thread! Some of the other suggestions in there are pretty neat!

Yes. In other games that's called "fog of war".

Uhm... would be quite unexpected for me.

My idea around this is to have a special map-view of the electric network(s). Or you have lamps, which will be shown on map, even in fog of war.
But o.k. maybe yours is simpler to implement. In every case it's questionable, if something like that will really come.

Added to viewtopic.php?f=80&t=18153 Information-Layers (for map and/or normal view)
and fixed title, cause not very special issue.
