If you click a link in one of the Steam news posts about a new version, such as the latest one (0.13.9) it sends you to:
(https//forums.factorio.com/28892)
which Firefox in turn then turns into:
http://www.(https.com//forums.factorio.com/28892)
Might not be under your control, but it kind of defeats the purpose of the link XD
Links in the Steam news posts do not work
Re: Links in the Steam news posts do not work
Confirmed. This happens in all browsers (I use Chrome).
The link includes the leading and trailing round brackets, "(" and ")".
You can see it in the Version 0.13.7 announcement on Steam, all of the bugfixes have a more link to the correct url except the link in Scripting, which has the leading/trailing round bracket.
AFAIK the Steam news have to be generated manually and it depends on who does this, but it's important to note that (contrary to this forum system) Steam tends to expand the URL to all possible characters, which in this case is not desired.
I've had this problem a few times making posts in the Steam discussion forums, the quick way is to surround the url with tags or (as HanziQ did) use the
[ url=http://www.factorio.com]Factorio[/url] tag.

Thanks for the report,
I was copy pasting from the forum post, but now we have a steam specific format available
