i am missing the "Light entity info background" option in the new 0.13.0 exp. release.
This option is very useful, here are the difference:
With out this option:
and with this option:
With the brighter backgrounds you can see better what your factory produce.

I think the second screenshot looks really ugly and out of place, that's probably why it was removed

This is only a option, you can disable it when you not like it.

Options needs to be supported. That is perhaps the reason, why it was removed.
So this way (discussing if it should be reintroduced) is the right way.

Perhaps this: This option was introduced due to the coal; it was/is so dark, that it could not be seen. So my idea about this would be, that if the icon is too dark it will automatically be lighted somehow...

I think the light background looks horrible, and, if anything, hurts visibility more than it helps. I did enable the feature once by accident and I was convinced that I had found a graphics bug that made my icons not display correctly (after 30 minutes I found out that it actually was this option).
If you have two possible backgrounds (black and white) you have to test all the icons if they display correctly with both backgrounds. That's a lot of additional work for the graphics department.
In my opinion stuff like this should be moddable or at least accessible from a "debug" layer; this would make it a hack that is possible for the minority of players that want or need it.

Yeah having it as a debug setting would make sense, since debug options are allowed to be somewhat ugly -- and this option for icons definitely is on the ugly side!
