[0.13.0] Having umlaut bound "open chat" key will close chat
[0.13.0] Having umlaut bound "open chat" key will close chat
In the German Version the Key for the Chat is on the "Ö".
If you press this Key again in the message the Chat aborts. So is not Possible to type "Ö" in the Chat.
Then I switch the Key assignment to [TAB] but then the first keys stroke get lost.

Re: [0.13.0] Multiplayer Chat
Can you not bind it to something you don't use in chat?
Re: [0.13.0] Multiplayer Chat
I think the problem here is that pressing the key while typing closes the chat. For example, I bound mine to U, and can type that one just fine...
Re: [0.13.0] Multiplayer Chat
Ah I got it, if you bind it to an actual letter it does not close the chat, but umlauts are not considered letters so binding it to one of them does not give it that feature.
Either switch to binding it to a non umlaut letter or use something that you don't use in chat.
NaB

Ö is a letter, just not an english one. You're supporting many different languages so it would make sense to extend that support to keyboard layouts aswell?
Especially considering that ö is the default key for chat for whatever reason.

Ok I reopened it, but I would be very surprised if this does not end up in minor or won't fix.Zeblote wrote:Ö is a letter, just not an english one. You're supporting many different languages so it would make sense to extend that support to keyboard layouts aswell?

Thanks for the report,
The default key on english layout is ' , which means i have to work around this.
I will add this to confirmed in the way that we should recheck all keyboard layouts for default keybindings, but it may not happen any time soon

When you make the workaround could you also do the same with the danish letters: æ, ø and å.
Re: [0.13.0] Having umlaut bound "open chat" key will close chat
Easy fix: disable all keybinds while chat is open. Close chat only with escape.
Re: [0.13.0] Having umlaut bound "open chat" key will close chat
I don't understand what is the bug. If you setup your chat to be opened by a key you type, it obviously closes it. Just set it to different key.
Re: [0.13.0] Having umlaut bound "open chat" key will close chat
Not if said key is an english letter, then it works as expected (press key to open chat, can type it in chat now)kovarex wrote:If you setup your chat to be opened by a key you type, it obviously closes it.
Re: [0.13.0] Having umlaut bound "open chat" key will close chat
One would expect, but it is not the case, a-z don't close it again only keys shown as "key 42" or similar in the controls menu do.kovarex wrote:I don't understand what is the bug. If you setup your chat to be opened by a key you type, it obviously closes it. Just set it to different key.
Re: [0.13.0] Having umlaut bound "open chat" key will close chat
the issue is that with the normal english letters it works like open chat with "o" you can still type with the letter "o".
But as special letters is not recognized as a letter but just as a key, ex. key60 on my pc is the danish letter "æ" so you wont be able to type the letter "æ" when it's being used as chat opener.
As of just changing the keybinding, it's kinda hard to get used to a new key to press, I tried and it annoyed the hell out of me.
