[Rseding91] Infinite flame turret ammo [Michal]

Post by wahming »

After disconnecting the pipe, turret continues to merrily spew flaming liquid death at anybody nearby for 3 minutes with no sign of stopping.

The turret holds 10 oil of what ever type you put in it and consumes it at a rate of 0.12/second if firing 100% of the time. That means you get a max of 83.33 seconds of solid stream before it runs out - has it been firing constantly for that long or does it fire, wait for more things, fire, and so on?

Oh... that's a big buffer

It's firing on and off, I guess I need to trigger some biters to chase me around.

However, the 10 oil buffer is not decreasing either, as you can tell from the screenshot?

Yeah, I can definitely confirm the buffer isn't dropping at all. Unless there's some weird behaviour where it shows 10 oil up until it's dry then suddenly drops to 0, which would be a bug anyway.

Better still - to escalate it further - connect the flame turret to a valid source, then immediately disconnect it, and watch as the buffer fills on its own - from nowhere.

Can you drain buffer with pump? maybe it is new pumpjack.
looks like somewhere sign got inverted. --0.12 instead of -0.12

Sadly no, connecting to empty pipes do not give me infinite oil.

With further testing, the buffer does eventually deplete. However, it stays stuck at 10 for a good, long time.

I suspect what is going on is, in addition to its internal buffer, the turret has a hidden pipe which also gets filled with oil. This is invisible and slowly drains before the buffer will start emptying. If so, it's more a UI issue than anything else.

Thanks for the report. The internal pipe was 10 times bigger than intended.
Also I changed the tooltip to add amounts from turrets buffer and the internal pipe. It will also show progress bar for the internal pipe.

Fixed for 0.13.1
