[0.13.0] Auto-update and MP username must now be identical

Post by linux-user »

Problem description:

In standalone versions (as opposed to Steam versions) of Factorio prior to 0.13.0, one's displayed Multiplayer name could differ from one's auto-updater username. As of 0.13.0, if one's "Factorio username" in the Other Settings window is not the same as one's auto-updater username, one is prompted for Automatic Update credentials the next time the Factorio client checks for updates.

Desired behavior:

The 0.12.x and earlier behavior of decoupled multiplayer usernames and Factorio auto-updater usernames.

I've looked at every options menu I can find. I hope that I didn't overlook something that does exactly what I'm asking for.

Due to how multiplayer works in 0.13, the multiplayer username is the same as the Factorio account username.

I can change my multiplayer username to anything I want in the Steam version of Factorio.

You will not be able to play on servers that require verification if you do that.
