Glad to hear that work on an improved UI is on the way. On WQHD resolution the icons are so tiny it kinda strains the eyes to look at them, and they scale really poorly if you try to enlarge the whole UI in the options.

Looking forward to playing through the whole game once again on monday :)

About the terrain improvements...

Make it more diverse. Currently there is just two types. Water and land, with land having a few different colors.

Make it more meaning full. Like, no trees in desert. only oil spawns in desert. certain resources only on certain types of terrain.
I have a few ideas here: Bio-Domes

What's up with the cargo wagons? Why are there 3 compartments? What's going on here?

:O have they said anything about that? Having each wagon function as 3 separate boxes instead of one would make a lot of sense and make transport of multiple item types a lot easier. Here's hoping.

The new trains do look nice.

The whole lining things up was a pain before.

Looks really interesting. We will see how it looks from left to right and how the length change while changing the direction affect the the wagons.
Greetings, Nova.
Factorio is one of the greatest games I ever played, with one of the best developers I ever heard of.

I find the older railway posts graphically more realistic and nicer - but that's just me...
Far more important to me are the design and property changes on the combinators as well as their enhanced connectors and wiring

I think that's just to make it look more aligned to 6 inserters on either side.

As for terrain - we need snow :) Heroes of Might and Magic 1 looks to me as the best reference about how much terrain diversity adds to the whole atmosphere. Another atmospheric thing from HOMM1 are exaggerated environmental sounds.

According to the translation strings, there will be possible to change color of locomotive from the gui.
Each train with the different color :)

If true, that would be awesome!! Then I could see which train it is at a glance without opening the GUI! :D

To me this FFF came late on Steam news, around 18.00 (6 PM) on saturday.
I like the new train graphics, but a graphics-related post should have a LOT more pictures, and spellcheck should be used. Since i am a perfectionist, i was looking at all the typos like "srsly..."
Maybe 0.14 would have a lot of inserter improvements, suvh as configurabe inserters, so that you could set them on 90* angles as an example. it would also be sweet, if it was possible to set the 'lane' of the belt the items are picked up off or placed on. I hope to see it in the future, and i'm absolutely hyped for the 0.13 update
Sincerely, a happy gamer.

I approve, and it would surely be nice to see the ability to build boats and (at least) railway bridges.

About the terrain improvements... when we get more water based mechanics (ie boats), maybe we could have rivers in the world generation?
I really like the idea of rivers, boats and bridges and i am thinking about a new power generator: water/wind turbines! Eco-friendly so the aliens don't bother them and would add some need for rivers other than just obstacles.

Personally, I'd like to see some tundra and taiga biomes in Factorio. Lack of snow is somewhat disappointing.
