I was here before the ores and the forests, I remember the first oil spill and the first drill ever activated.

That is the reason why we want to take our time before trying the bigger youtubers (like nerd cubed etc).
I am guessing that's the reason why you won't be going for steam early access too soon, too.

I get excited every time I see a new post in one of the boards of the top category, hoping it's the good news.

Too bad it's a reaction to this thread every time :P

I think you should keep up the hard work like you already do, the game start to look way more polished and attractive for the people that are not yet sold on the game. Demo like somebody said in the first comments, I don't know, it was necessary at first when it was the only thing available to convince you.

Now I would say this about demos :
- it's a bit old fashion,
- even if it sells some units, it's probably more work because it's a different build, you have to package things in a different way, etc...
- time put in the demo could be used to focus on things really more efficient

When 0.9 is out and debugged, you should start sending the game to people streaming, and you-tubers, so they try the game out, I think it will be way more efficient to build a momentum around the game. Even if you may have done that during the indiegogo campaign, in this case it's time to show your progress on the game. And there is probably more streamers to show the game to.

Edit : oh and like many said, the UI/keyboard was the hardest thing to overcome, always sounded counter-intuitive to me.

.9.1 is out actually. Lots of bugfixes over .9.0, new cracking recipe, and a lot of other improvements to oil industry/tech.

My 2 cents: I believe the better conversion rate of RimWorld is due to the fact that it isn't as intimidating; it looks clean and easy and the video is more visually appealing. Besides the marketing and website, Factorio is amazing but you really need to hide some of the complexity behind a layer of simplicity. For example, when jumping into a new game the creation screen is straight into a full on custom map editor. Why not have some baseline worlds with nice graphics and a button for "Custom World" where you can then access all of the environmental variables? I think you'd also benefit from some menu retooling (mainly the tech tree) and more obvious visual cues in game to bring the intimidation factor/learning curve down. As for demos, I would have bought it without one. Keep up the good work!

Yes, 3-4 buttons:
- Easy
- Medium
- Hard
- Custom

Only custom shows the current screen.
All other modes are choosen so, that they will generated from a list of worlds, which are tested as well balanced.
Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.
