it's up to your pc I presume cause my log says nothing about my Nvidia card while Nvidia says it's running the game.Loewchen wrote:The log says its running on the Nvidia one as well.youdoomt wrote:The log says that even though the graphics card says otherwise.orzelek wrote:Log you posted shows it's running on intel chip.This here only shows what the display is connected to:0.714 Initialised Direct3D:[0] NVIDIA GeForce GPU; driver: nvd3dumx.dll 10.18.13.6472[0]: \\.\DISPLAY1 - Intel(R) HD Graphics 520 {0x05, [0,0], 3000x2000, 32bit, 60Hz}
Screen tearing and stutter when moving
Re: Screen tearing and stutter when moving
Re: Screen tearing and stutter when moving
Sorry guys I wasn't close to Internet for a few days
I tried the GPU activity thing and it shows factorio as using the gpu
Edit:
This is what the log looks like when i start the game on the integrated graphics, weidly it is also shown in the "gpu in use" icon
Maybe it detects that it can't start factorio on the integrated graphics and auto starts it with the gpu?

Re: Screen tearing and stutter when moving
By default gpu is automatically selected you need to manually select nvidia gpu for factorio you can do that in setting if you don't now how try google "how to force gpu used" if still nothing or you don't find how to do it i will try to help you more than i get back home
Re: Screen tearing and stutter when moving
I know how to select it, I have changed both the global and the factorio specific setting and I've done the selection via the right click menu thing but that doesn't appear to change anything
Re: Screen tearing and stutter when moving
Hmm download msi after burner and check gpu vram usage while running in your base
Re: Screen tearing and stutter when moving
Ok, I downloaded afterburner
My GPU is pinned at 98% even in the main menu, my vram is at 600mb in the main menu and 660mb in game, no change if in a base or not
So somehow either I doesn't load enough things into vram since I still have 400mb left or something changed that pins my gpu usage so high

Re: Screen tearing and stutter when moving
It's normal in 99% of games gpu usage will be 99-100% and vram is good it's not suppose to use 100% of your memory if not necessarily it's seams like your gpu is not a problem here how about cpu and ram?
Re: Screen tearing and stutter when moving
Utilisations are not relevant here, all the calculations are done quickly and the page flip taking so long can not be explained by low performance. I would suspect a driver issue.
Re: Screen tearing and stutter when moving
Ah ok, good to know
Yes I suspect the same, I just rolled back my updates as far as I could but it did not change anything, unfortunately.
I suspect I will have to wait until a new driver or by accident the 0.13 update fixex the issue

Re: Screen tearing and stutter when moving
It probably is drivers but at work with phone not much i can do so i tried to remove some variables now then i am back at home
can you tell your gpu model 960m or 940m or ... i will try to find older drivers it will help if it is driver problem
and upload your save game i will load on my pc maybe i will get same problem and we will now it is something with your save or factorio
Edit: just checked picture with your base cpu ram is not a problem ups at 60

Re: Screen tearing and stutter when moving
The dGPU is a modified 940M
Is there a certain way that I have to follow for the forum rules regarding uploading of my savegame?
And it happens both with new games and old saves and I've reinstalled Factorio multiple times so are you sure that it has something to do with my Factorio install?
Or are there things Steam doesn't uninstall when I uninstall via it?

Re: Screen tearing and stutter when moving
I hate technology
When the problem originally came up I was on driver 368.39
After my rollback I actually was on a driver from March, even before the one XBBX linked me to, thank you for that by the way
And the problem persisted.
I installed a few drivers back to back, going up the releases and the problem persisted.
That is until I used GeForce experience to go to the newest driver (which I have done before)
The screen tearing is gone, my fps are in the 40 to 50 fps range at 3000x2000 and I am none the wiser.
So in case anybody ever has the same problem, uninstall your drivers and reinstall drivers until you find one that solves the issue.
I have no idea what I did this time that could be different from the last time
I would like to thank everybody that helped me with theisproblem
