[0.12.33] [Pending] Mac connecting to windows PC

[0.12.33] [Pending] Mac connecting to windows PC

Hello,

My friends host a Steam MP game. With Ipconfig I found it's IP address. Some versions ago it was working ok. When it looks that factorio connects the game crashes. I get a lot of Couldn't establish network communication with server.

Details
LAN game we where using wifi on the same network. (Again it worked sometimes before)

Both are using steam
My friend uses a Win 7 PC with no firewall on
His IP address 10.0.202.180

I am using OS X Yosemite 10.11.5 (Build 15F31a)
Also no firewall on
My address was 10.0.201.197

When connecting I entered 10.0.202.180:34197

It says there that you have steam version "experimental" 0.12.33, are they also running 0.12.33, or are they still on "Stable" 0.12.29?

dont get me wrong, but u have different dubnets... are u sure that they r connected at all? (gateway / subnetmask?)

Hope you know about subnetting to understand what i am speaking about.

usually a 201/24 cant connect to a 202/24 without a proper configured gateway.


do u use the same router? tell us some more about your infrastructure. It seems more likely that the clients cant reach each other cause of network setup instad of a game problem.

@Speadge Thing to remember next time.

@bobingabout The infrastructure is a big apartment building Wi-Fi network. It was possible to connect to each other some time ago. I know a little bit of ip addresses next time ill post his log too.

Thanks for the report,

Have you had any luck resolving the issue?
Sometimes routers can re-assign internal IP addresses which may have caused this

Small Update. My friend moved to another place. No issues found since then. Possibly we where connected to different routers which could be possible.
