...*cough* Updated my Bobs Mods compatibility version! Works best with bobs near and more inserters options set to false (in bobs config) and long inserters set to true (although it will work without long inserters, adding just the left and right purple inserters). Anyways, I like the way you updated the code under entities.lua! That should make it always have the same stats as the inserter it's based on, right? It's awesome!
*ahem* So, err, if it's not too much trouble... maybe make it an official update? Heh.. hehe.. But anyways, yup!

Just saw this mod, and was thinking, Instead of having 4(?) different icons for each inserter. (Normal, left, right, near)
Would it be possible code in a button press to switch between version once its placed. (Similar to the "r" button to rotate items)
ie, pressing of "y" button switches the highlighted inserter from "Normal" to "Near" then to "Left" then "Right" then back to "Normal"
And just like the "r" button it could be persistent. If the last one you placed was a "Left" the next one you place will also be a "Left"
I am not a modder, I have no idea if this is possible, but think it would be a great Idea if it is.

I really hope the devs implement something that resembles the 'K&L inserters' mod.
Because that mod can cause some troubles because of the massive amount of items it adds I'll stick with Side/Near inserters mod.

I've just checked bob's inserters and while they already have near versions, there are an awfully large number to make left and right versions of. How would you suggest I arrange them in the crafting menu?

I'm asking because I actually disable bob's inserters and I'm using yours. So I have a ll yours and express inserter is a single one on wrong tab and has no near or 90 degree versions. Okay, here it is:
The dependencies on Near Inserters and Side Inserters are optional; if only one is present then the icons will be placed alongside the express inserter in its current location, if both are present they will be moved to Inserters tab. Loaded it into existing game and all of them are nicely in inserters tab.

I like this mod for its ability to build much tighter factories. However, I did notice that, when deconstructing the side inserter, it goes back into your inventory as a standard inserter of the same type. (So if you deconstruct a left-fast inserter, it will go back into your inventory as a regular fast inserter).
Is this by design? Is it a bug? Has it been fixed? I was using version 1.0.5 of the mod, and I just now see a 1.0.8 version. However, the changelog only mentions a language change.

Yeah that's by design - it's the simplest and most practical way to allow an inserter to switch sides or revert to normal operation.
Note thatif when version 0.13 is released side inserters won't need to be crafted individually, I'll be able to add a function to switch regular inserter direction, and blueprints will remember that setting.
