Game Crashes

Post by Kahoyt »

I've been having a lot of game crashes, it used to be when ever the game auto saved, but I've learned that the auto save is not what triggers the crash. I have no mods, and I keep Factorio up to date with the patches. just a note, the game never crashed during the campaign for me, only during custom maps, which I use the default settings for.

here is a clip http://plays.tv/video/57244127302f58d45 ... orkoutabug of me playing right before the crash, which, appears that the game crashes when attempting to load something. My screen recording program stops recording when the crash occurs, which is why the clip just ends where it does.

here is also the even viewer log that was generated when the game crashed

Here are my PC specs
Windows 10
quad core i7 4790k
32 GB DDR3 RAM
250GB SSD
1TB HDD
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 (kinda disappointed I didn't get the 970)
TP-LINK 802.11AC adapater

Any solutions? I love this game, but it's frustrating when I'm working on a project and one of these errors occur

I don't believe plays.tv is causing the crash, these errors have occurred before I ever got plays.tv

The timing with the attack coming into view is suspicious. Please upload the factorio log-file as well.

If you are at UTC-4 then this is correct. Sadly the log is not complete, either because of the error or you missed some lines. Could you check that?

Then there is only to wait for it to happen again and check if the log is more useful then.
You could update to the newest version btw: Right-click Factorio in your library, select Properties, go to Betas and select experimental from the dropdown-menu.

Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\KERNELBASE.dll
That's not Factorio crashing - that's some other part or component on your computer that's causing it to crash.
If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.

That's really weird, because Factorio is the only game that crashes on me. I'll look into this "KERNELBASE.dll" crash

UPDATE: did some research, and I found this http://www.sevenforums.com/general-disc ... ation.html
As I understand things (and I could be completely off the mark on this), kernelbase.dll is kinda like a second generation of kernel32.dll. Kernel32.dll was originally written for 32-bit operating systems while kernelbase.dll is for primarily 64-bit systems. Rather than re-write the entire kernel code, kernel32.dll and kernelbase.dll are supposed to work work together.

They are the main files (for lack of a better description) that contain the core processes or heart of the operating system. At startup, they load into memory and regulate things like user runs, programs, memory management, input and output streams, task managment, and disk management. They contain the operating system's fundamental processes. They can also be accessed by more than one program at a time which is why it's usually difficult to narrow down why an error occurs or which program or application is at fault.
If you go to that page the guy gave some suggestions as to how to see if your kernalbase.dll needs fixed or not. I ran a /sfc/scannow and came up with 0 corrupted files. the other solutions he suggested were to reinstall my OS; Which I don't believe would fix the problem. I think its some miscommunication between the kernal and factorio, since this is the only program that has this error.

I have been experiencing the same exact issue of crashing while zooming out, no mods nothing new. Worked fine less than a week ago.
Havent tried loaded old games, but it happens when i start a new game at the start. Cannot find anything on forums or google to help :/

If the game crashes, please post the log.

I think it's Current.log saved in the game's root directory.
