Automatic trash slots.

Post by Quizer »

Trash slots should be configurable in such a way that I can have robots come and take away certain items automatically, without me needing to put them into trash slots. For example, I want to be able to say to my bots "I never want to have any wood in my inventory", or "if I pick up more than 100 of this thing, take away the excess".

Ideally, this would also interact gracefully with regular logistic slots, so that you can combine the two to, for example, define "keep my stock of <item> between 50 and 100".

Set Filter on Logistic Trash slots

Post by Berserker55 »

Merged with already existing suggestion.

Basically, allow by clicking on a currently empty (character) logistic trash slot, to select an item to be filtered.
Or middle mouse click on a item-having trash slot, to set that item (similar to hotbar).
Any items arriving in the inventory, would preferably go into the filtered trash slot, before going into main inventory/hotbar.

Use case example:
Set slot to alien artifact.
When killing enemy base, artifacts automatically go into trash slot. When you get back to base, the artifacts are automatically put into your storage.

When replacing old belts/inserters etc., they could also go into trash slot -> logistic system -> upgrade -> back into inventory as upgraded.

There also is a mod that does this currently:
[MOD 0.12.7]AutoTrash 0.0.3 - https://forums.factorio.com/forum/vie ... 97&t=16016

It would be nice if the item filter system could do this. Middle click the trash slot with the item and junk automatically goes there.

Like the main logic system, except that items are automatically removed or queued to be removed.

Yeah this would be an awesome feature.

I would like the option to have a checkbox: "Automaticly trash slot logistic slot overflow" or something like that.
Example:
Let's say I want to have 200 blue belt in logistic slot.
Then I clear some part of my factor and now I have 250 blue belt.
If the checkbox is checked the 50 blue belt goes to trash slot automaticly.

Why?
Well inventory space is limited and I really don't need to have more stuff than I order from the logistic slots.
Basicly quality of life improment.
