A way to sort the rail station listing

Post by zytukin »

As your base grows and you add more and more trains and rail stations, the list of rail stations can become quite long and it can become a pain to find a particular station if you have, for example, 25+ stations. If you have a mega base, then you could easily have over 50 stations or maybe over a hundred. Currently the only way to sort them is to give them names to separate them using the alphabetical listing that the game uses.

But, what if there was another way as well?
I'd like to suggest some type of Tabbed listing where players can sort stations manually to keep certain stations on certain tabs for easier locating of certain stations. Players could sort out stations as they see fit. As an example, putting loading stations on one tab, unload points on another tab, defense supply stations on yet another tab. A station would default to the first tab when added and perhaps it could be moved by accessing the station listing via any train, clicking a station, then shift+click on a different tab to move it there. Or in the station rename screen, perhaps a little drop down listing the different tabs.

Maybe the tabs could be numbers, Maybe they could have letters instead.
Even nicer would be if a player could rename the tabs.

This would be a great ease-of-use addon to the train system. I've already started to want such a feature, and I've not started making my MEGA base yet. Just started making a few outposts (ca. 8 for ores and such, plus an oil processing outpost with 8 stations) and my first bot-fed factory.
