[0.12.29] Solar Panel permanently stopped working

Post by JasonC »

I have a solar panel that, at some point in the last 12 hours, stopped working permanently (I'm not sure when, this is in a remote location that I never visit and this pumping station is rarely activated):

Image

The panel is connected to 2 pumps, a lamp, and an accumulator via a medium electric pole. The electric poles off the the left are a different network, they are not connected with copper. The small pole only exists for a circuit wire.

As you can see from the graph, the panel appears to have not generated power for quite some time.

I think it's only this panel.
Took a break from 0.12.29 to 0.17.79, and then to ... oh god now it's 1.something. I never know what's happening.

As usual the act of posting this helped me fix the issue. I turned on some extra debug info, it looks like the panel was also feeding the lone small pole:

Moving it over made it work again. I think it took me a while to notice because I had been surviving on the accumulator for a really, really long time:

I'm not sure if this is a bug or just user error. If there is a bug here it's in the solar panel's choice to feed the unconnected small pole network, and not the other one. It is a weird edge case though.

(Incidentally, I love the immersiveness of having to hop in the car then take a walk in the woods to inspect a remote pumping station when you notice a problem.)
