Hey guys, I've been producing these tutorial videos for a little while now and have shown a couple off on the subreddit but someone finally suggested I start a thread over here, which had somehow never occurred to me before. If you guys are interested, i'll try to update the post with my new tutorials as they are released.
Here is the playlist which will always be the most up to date source: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... RoVdrlbY_W

Logistics Network Tutorial now up: Logistics networks: https://youtu.be/Qr69-OazAK8
We talk about how you can use logistics robots as well as what exactly active provider, passive provider, requester, and storage chests can be used for. We also touch on linking roboports and unload a train using robots.

Oil transport and processing now up: https://youtu.be/7h5It7jG6Ds
We talk about extracting oil, moving it with pipelines/barrels/rail tanker mod as well as storing it and processing it in the refinery and chemical plants.

Practical uses for circuits 1 is now up! https://youtu.be/Lr5oxJ59J2M
We start this tutorial by designing a system to automatically route heavy oil to lubricant manufacturing or cracking depending on our current storage level of lubricant using wire and two small pumps. Next, we use red and green wires to connect smart chests to smart inserters through a combinator to automatically produce either plastic or sulfur depending on our current storage levels of the two materials (if you happen to be wondering how to make plastic then this answers that question as well). We explore a few ways of achieving this including using more small pumps.

Cool, it was a nice tutorial (although it didn't teach me anything I didn't know), but you could have done a bit more.
One thing I like doing, using the Nixie Tubes mod, is to calculate the percentage of each oil type, i.e. if I have 4 Tanks for Petrol Gas, 10k units, then I use an Arithmetal Combinator to divide by 100 to get the 0-100 percentage. Then I display that with 3 Nixie Tubes. Then the same for Crude, Heavy and Light (for Acid and Lube I might well skip the percentages and do a 5-digit Nixie display).
I know you don't use mods, but you can still use Lamps, I think, turning them on or off based on the percentage, so that for instance you can have 5 Lamps and have them turn on when above 20, 40, 60, 80 and when at 100.

Re: [Youtube] Factorio Tutorials and Howto's from Hypnobunny
The timing on this post is quite fortuitous because I just released a new video a day or two ago on how to build a 5 digit resource display (that could also be modified to show percentages). It uses the heck out of the circuit networkPeter34 wrote: I know you don't use mods, but you can still use Lamps, I think, turning them on or off based on the percentage, so that for instance you can have 5 Lamps and have them turn on when above 20, 40, 60, 80 and when at 100.

Steam engine power backup tutorial is now up
https://youtu.be/VJS1Z-t05QA
In this guide we're going to be looking at how to set up your steam engines to become a source of emergency backup power for your base. If you're running on solar but drain your accumulators at night during a big attack then you want another source of power to keep you up and running until morning. You also don't want to waste coal running your engines all of the time so here is one way to automatically toggle them on and off as power levels wax and wane. We also talk about storing hot liquids in storage tanks and using small pumps as one way valves. One thing to note: I am showing you how to do this in vanilla but there are easier ways to achieve this with mods (allowing you to use wires to connect accumulators directly to small pumps).
