Today I just discovered...

Post by Evan_ »

Since I play Factorio, I discover a new mechanic every day that makes my life easier. Some of these are pretty obvious, others I would never have figured out if someone doesn't point my attention to it, or does it infront of me. Now I could just list all my findings, but where's the fun in that? So I thought I make a thread where we can all share the not-too-obvious things we found. Let me start:

You can reuse blueprints. Right click erases them.

Now it's your turn!

Even after hundreds of hours in the game I just recently found this out: You get free red/green wires if you use a blueprint and bots. If you set up a circuit network thing using the wires and them blueprint it and have bots build it, they don't actually need wires to be available, they will just magically appear in the build. xD

One of the last interesting mechanics I discovered was:
If you have an assembling machine open (or another production building) then CTRL+clicking on an empty square in your inventory will fill the assembling machine with as many missing items of all types as possible.

Very helpful if you want to craft several stacks of a product that has lots of ingredients in higher tier modded machines.

You can copy from an assembler and paste into a requester chest and boom, instant request-o-fill!

Cool, I never knew this one.

'+' and '-' changes the 'brush' size for laying brick and concrete pavement.

Forgot a favorite:

You can set slots in a wagon to be only filled with a certain item. Done by middle-click.

It's old hotkey, but it is very helpful :P

SHIFT-RMB on a object to copy properties
SHIFT-LMB on a object to paste properties

It works almost with everything like copy-paste recipe from one assembly to another assembly, logic condition from combinator to combinator, filter setup from wagon to wagon etc.

One less obvious copy/paste - copy recipe from assembler to requester chest.
