I have an inserter without power despite an power pole with energy near it. Rotating the inserter doesn't change the arm, but only the base. The inserter shows no energy and doesn't work.
I can upload save game and used mods if necessary.

Re: [0.12.27] Inserter without energy despite power pole
If you cntrl click a power pole it'll switch it off (as such) I feel you've likely done that without realising, replace the pole to force it to reconnect to the power supply.

(It's Shift + left click, but okay. ^^)
You're right, that's the "bug". I didn't see that because the other power pole got a cable over this one to another. Didn't realize they could connect over that distance. Thank you.

Yeah, it's shift, my bad, I'm always mixing cntrl and shift or left / right mouse buttons, maybe I'll learn one day!
I have to add that I really don't see the point in disconnecting power poles with shift click, for me it's just a hassle as it's easy to miss click when you're trying to copy / paste logistic settings to smart inserters or requester chests. Personally I feel this function just causes problems for new and old players alike, and if anyone wants to pull the plug to a part of the factory they'd do it by just removing the power pole anyway - and you can't even reconnect the power by say shift clicking agai, you have to replace the power pole..
edit: think I'll just unbind this in the game settings. Seems simplest and best !

Re: [0.12.27] Inserter without energy despite power pole
I beg to differ.
Disconnecting a pole could be very useful, when you want to specifically control which network a machine is connected to (when creating backup networks, loads, etc).
You can also re-connect a pole without placing it again, using a copper cable from your inventory.

I didnt know about the copper trick, makes sense. I can see the use in wanting something powered by a specific electrical grid.
