Factorio could auto-detect PC settings, and auto-set options

While moderating, I have seen quite a number of topics about people having graphic issues or even crashes because of insufficent hardware (or at least insufficent hardware for chosen settings).
I think Factirio should do several things :
- On first execution, it should detect the machine's hardware, and parameter itself accordingly so that the game will work properly.
- Detect when the settings chosen by the end user make the game work improperly, catch the error, and print an explicit error message like "Factorio has detected that graphic settings are too high for the machine's VRAM. It is advised to lower graphic quality".

If the error messager displaying is too complicated to set-up (or if it is planned to add this kind of things later on), at least perform the test, and print an explicit diagnostic like "ran out of VRAM" in the logfile. It would help tremendously troubleshooting.
