Mission 2 - Train Issue

I'm on the second mission where you have to recover the base and research trains. I'm having a nightmare getting the train to work, I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure this out for the last 3 hours. I have repaired the track and built a train with a 2 carriages and a train on each end. It should be simple getting it to travel to one stop then return to the original station, however all I'm getting is "no path". I have tried every combination of train stop, with stops either side of the track, it travels to the station with no problem but cant return, all I get it is "no path" - Please what am I doing wrong?

The train stop is bugged, you need to rebuild it.

I had problems with the train with two engines, too. I'm not sure whether I rebuilt the train stop, but I circumvented the issue with the heading by building big loops at the stations.
