[0.8] Inventory Sorting

Post by TGS »

Seems as though with 0.8 automatic inventory sorting when right clicking items out of chest is broken. Was pulling copper ore out of a chest and it was being placed on the bottom of my inventory, but as soon as I grabbed a stack of ore it sorted itself. Making for very awkward and at times even disruptive inventory handling.

Also removes the ability to simply shift click a stack type rapidly to move that type over to a chest with the inventory open.

Hello, I don't understand what exactly is the problem now.
The autosorting is now performed after every action (I tested shift/ctrl click from/to chest or from/to character/quickbar) all worked fine.
Could you provide more detailed description of the problem?

P.S. Instead of clicking shift clicking rapidly, you can control click to move all of the items of the same type.

In 0.7.5 the player inventory automatically sorted towards the top most left corner. Everything was placed in an organised place. But now for some reason it doesn't seem to be happening properly. It does happen, but it seems like sometimes it isn't performing the sort until after the next action. IE if I do the shift click (Didn't know about the control click) it seemed to put things at the bottom of my inventory. As soon as I did anything (IE picked up a stack) it automatically sorted. But until you do something else, the stuff goes into the inventory unsorted. It isn't a bug so much as an awkward inconsistency. Shouldn't really make much difference but it kind of freaked me out because I didn't anticipate it and got confused.

For example I just loaded up a save and my inventory is:

But as soon as I picked up a stack it automatically righted itself to

Probably just happens because of the change in when the sorting happens?

I see, but I was not able to reproduce it with any action known to me. Could you provide exact way to reproduce it?

I just opened a chest with stacks of items in it. Such as coal for example that I just did. I right clicked a stack, and the stack ended up at the bottom of my inventory. As soon as I grabbed anything in my inventory it sorted again.

I am in sandbox mode by the way, perhaps it is happening only in sandbox mode?

Yeah, I just tested it in a normal mode/save and it didn't happen. I'm guessing it has to do with the sandbox mode.

Yes, it does indeed, this is the hint I needed, thx.
Now it is fixed for 0.8.1
