Order string in entities

What is the order string in entities?
I know there is something like that for items to be ordered in the inventory, but for entities? I tried to look at the changelog buuut nope :s

Arent they ordered by their item order? That is what i thought at least

No, they are not, now I think I know what they are for.

Entities that have no items, need the order for the map editor, because only entities that have no items have the order string.
