Same here, running Kubuntu 15.04 64-bit. I get a "transparent" window with no title or icon. No mods at all. Haven't tried reinstalling though.

Re: 0.12.13 won't load linux
Reinstalling Factorio does not fix the issue.
Re: 0.12.13 won't load linux
It craps out right before printing the "Initialised OpenGL" line, what GPU+drivers are you guys using? I've tried with radeon, intel and llvmpipe on amd64 and nvidia blob on i386, works fine for me.

Re: 0.12.13 won't load linux
It started up fine (and updated its self) before updating to 0.12.13. I am using Intel's integrated graphics, not sure how to check for a graphics driver, I use whatever came with the system.
Re: 0.12.13 won't load linux
Not much choice then—that would be Mesa. You can find out details with something like 'glxinfo |grep -E "OpenGL (renderer|version) string"' or by looking at an old Factorio log of a successful launch but not sure if this will be helpful, an Intel IGP is working just fine for me. Try figuring out what you have in common that makes things not work for you.chris13524 wrote:It started up fine (and updated its self) before updating to 0.12.13. Re: 0.12.13 won't load linux
Works for me with Intel graphics as well. But I didn't test it on Ubuntu. Maybe it's broken on Ubuntu + Intel? Do all of you with this problem use Ubuntu and Intel graphics?
Re: 0.12.13 won't load linux
I get the same problem, I think. The game launched fine to download the upgrade to 12.13, but then on restart just showed a strange fullscreen window: as if it was a screenshot of what was there before (browser, desktop, etc.) and then someone copy-pasted the image over itself a few times, shifted up and to the left.
I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, with Intel Ivybridge Mobile graphics.
Possibly interesting sequence of events:
1. I open up the log in a terminal with tail -F.
2. I launch factorio, the weird copy-pasty window appears, clicking anywhere does nothing.
3. Alt-tabbing to the terminal, the log says the game has crashed.
4. At this point pgrep factorio shows that the game is still running, and I can still alt-tab to the weird window.
5. After a while I alt-tab back to the terminal and pkill factorio. The log immediately says "Received SIGTERM, shutting down".
6. However, the game has still not shut down, I can still alt-tab to it, etc.
7. After a while I pkill factorio again and this time it dies and the weird window disappears.
The current log is pasted below:

Re: 0.12.13 won't load linux
I have to do the same thing, kill the process twice. Running Factorio from the command line, I have to do Ctrl + C twice, the first time getting the "Received SIGTERM, shutting down" message.
I do not have any useful previous Factorio logs, and I don't have the command glxinfo. It doesn't exist in Ubuntu's repos either.
Here is the output of lshw -c video:
KInfoCenter is taking while to load the graphics info so I can't show you that.

Re: 0.12.13 won't load linux
Reinstalling 12.13 gives me the same problem, but installing 12.12 instead seems to work fine. Although "check for updates" says that there are no new versions, for some reason.
Re: 0.12.13 won't load linux
It's in mesa-utils. Use apt-file or the content search on http://packages.ubuntu.com/chris13524 wrote:I don't have the command glxinfo. It doesn't exist in Ubuntu's repos either.
You need to tick "Enable experimental updates" again, it's disabled by default for new installs.mguaypaq wrote:Reinstalling 12.13 gives me the same problem, but installing 12.12 instead seems to work fine. Although "check for updates" says that there are no new versions, for some reason.

OK, installing mesa-utils gave me the command, here is the output:
Code: Select all

OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Intel(R) Ivybridge Mobile
OpenGL version string: 3.0 Mesa 10.5.9
Re: 0.12.13 won't load linux
I have the same problem on my ubuntu 14.04 computer.
I usually run the game using primusrun (to utilize my graphics card) but the error seems to be independent of this.
On an other computer on 15.04 I had the same issue, but it seemed to be resolved when I upgraded to 15.10, however that computer only has an on board graphics card, so it can't run Factorio properly anyway, so I can't confirm that it works fine, just that it loads up, with the problems that seems to stem from the computer being insufficient.
Below I've included my log, though it is probably similar to the ones posted previously:
P.S. apart from the occasional errors I really enjoy the game and I am really looking forward to 0.13 - great work

Re: 0.12.13 won't load linux
Hello,
I have a similar problem. 0.12.12 worked fine, 0.12.13 only creates a frozen pseudo window (I can Ctrl-tab and kill it). Same problem with or without fullscreen.
Kernel is Debian 3.11.8 x86_64
factorio-current.log (home folder path removed) :
lshw -c video :

Hope this helps !

Re: 0.12.13 won't load linux
Seems to be the only one with nvidia so far, it gets a bit further, prints the "Initialised OpenGL" and "Graphics options" lines, then crashes with a stacktrace that doesn't contain any interesting functions, hm...simonalsn wrote:I have the same problem on my ubuntu 14.04 computer.
[...]
Could someone on intel with this problem try running Factorio with LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1 in the environment and see how far that gets?
(e.g. LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1 ./factorio)

When running it with the environment variable, no window shows.

Re: 0.12.13 won't load linux
Okay, so it's not about intel after all. It also crashes with nvidia, whatever software renderer chris13524's Mesa build is using and https://forums.factorio.com/forum/vie ... 49&t=17284 is reporting a crash on fglrx. Common theme seems to be *buntu and Debian.
