Would it be possible to make a melee weapon with other damage than physical? I'm thinking like a torch to burn spawners or a poisonous thing you can stick in the spawners to kill them?
Or just an enchanted Fire Sword of Mayhem.

A sword that would be equiped in the tool slot would be interesting. Sorry, I'm not a graphics guy. While you could make a new tool with a damage type in the tool slot, it only uses the tool as a weapon if you don't have any valid guns.
However, you could probably make a gun with melee range and high damage output, but it would require ammo.

Maybe a whetstone can be the "ammo". The better quality, the sharper the blade and hence the damage. Whetstones also run out, eventually.
