I found this on Reddit. It looks really nice! It's definitely going into my "must install" mod list!

Very nice idea.

The rails almost hide in the concrete. Might like to have the actual track stand out a little.

With increased costs it would be natural to expect some improvement to regular rails.
If the game uses friction/drag you could reduce the wheels friction, perhaps allowing for greater speed.

They have double the hp of normal rail. There is no way to influence a rails behaviour so there is no "legit"way of making a train go faster. If anything, hitzu wanted to make the trains go slower to reduce the chance of getting run over, since concrete will be used in places where you walk/drive a lot.

Thank you for feedback. In your opinion how can they stand out from concrete without loosing the visual integrity with it?

Why not also make transparent one?

Looks great, but feels a bit cheaty in my opinion, don't you think?

What recipe would you use for that?

For what purposes? On the cobblestone they look descent, but as for me, I like when rails are well integrated, straight texture in between curved rails don't look very well. On grass and on sand that rails look very unnatural.

For better blending with concrete and cobblestone?

This looks nice though:

For me the transparent ones looks not so good. I like that concrete slabs under rails. It's looks more industrial

It needs something like an outer emboss or a drop shadow to give you the feeling there is a gap between the floor and rails(both sides) or that the rail is elevated, respectively.

Is is possible to make these placable over regular rails to swap them? I currently have to mine the existing rails to place the concrete versions down.

We thought about this from the beginning and unfortunately this is not possible.

Hmm - did you try to adding replaceable groups to existing and new rails with matching names?
It's a standard way that works on all other things - should work on rails also. If not might drop by bug forums with it :D

I didn't changed almost anything besides the graphics, Xyfi did. And he said me that fast replacables caused some troubles.

I've got a method for swapping vanilla rails with concrete ones, in-place, with construction robots. The upgrade with construction robots mod.
(You could do concrete->vanilla too. The mod is basically 'find and replace' for entities via construction bots.)

The only problem is rotation is lost for diagonal and curved rails. I'm not sure why as position and direction are copied from the existing rail. I've made a bug report here but I'm posting this here in case the cause is somehow related to the new concrete rail type.
Once I get the issue resolved I'll post an updated version of the upgrade mod for all to use.

seemed transparent would be useful if you have downloaded the mod "color coding". Then you can determine the ground itself. Thanks for the mod!

I found that I like bricks on the rails and concrete on the walkways.
This pattern seems to keep me from walking on the rails as much.

Placing rails on concrete bars could perhaps look nice.
