Version 0.11.22 not finding updates

Just moved and finally got around to returning to factorio. I heard all about this big 0.12 update so I started a fresh game. I realized i should have checked the version to see if the update came through automatically. It didn't so when I told it to check for updates it couldn't find any. I know this is incorrect. Any solutions to this problem?

Options -> Other -> Enable experimental updates.

But some people have reported the automatic update failing, so you might have better luck downloading from https://www.factorio.com/download/experimental
