Compact Tileable Train Station

Post by HeilTec »

Just finished designing a compact Tileable station. :D
Unload_1-2-1
v2
v3
I am looking for flaws before setting up a series of these. :?:

Any and all constructive comments will be gratefully received.

(Inspired by ColonelWill's stream "Mega Base")

Edit: Updated image with 4 missing belts.

Added two updated versions (v2 + v3)
Thanks for all the comments

They don't unload evenly when the belt is cogged, thus some chests remain full all the time, limiting throughput from cargo wagon to chests (for already full chests) and later on from chests to the factory (for chests already emptied).

So it begins to "trickle" to the chests and later to the base.
I prefer a "full blast" by averaging the chests usage level: full blast untll all chests are full at the nearly same time and full blast while emptying them until all are empty at nearly the same time.

Or in pictures:

throughput from trickling is like a trianlge wave when chest after chest is emptied; my preference is like a rectangle wave, shorter duration until empty but not limiting throughput.

But your preferences might just be different than mine :)

That's precisely the situation I developed Equalizer Chests for :)
I don't have OCD, I have CDO. It's the same, but with the letters in the correct order.

Or you could use splitters and a clever belt management ;)

Thank you for the responses.

The low tier belts limits the throughput. Upgrading will speed up unloading of the buffers.

The reddit thread got some good comments too you might like to read.

the main difference in my opinionis that V2 combines the output of both tracks, and isnt updated yet to the right belt tiers like v3,
but in V3 the output is seperated so you can unload 2 different materials

so you can choose depending on your needs if you want to combine or seperate the output with small modifications

Your point is well taken, but will not be a problem if a buffer storage is used between the station and the factory - I think.
