I looked in the mod areas and ran some searches but there doesn't seem to be anything which adds any kind of automated fishing. This seems to be a large oversight for a game about automating everything. Fish are rather handy at times but chasing the fish around and right clicking them seems a little backward. Is anyone writing a mod to say make rods from wood and auto fish? Or nets from copper/iron perhaps? Stick of explosives fishing?
Any takers or am I going to have to learn how to make it myself?

The Homeworld mod is a bit of overkill if all you want is automated fishing, though.

Yeah, Homeworld looks interesting enough to try out but I was after something a little less all encompassing.
That said, I had some time to think about it at work and I've come up with a bit of a progression I may try to create. Start with automated fishing - gets you fish of course. Then a 'Pharmacology' research step to grow alien plants which process into speed up pills or see in the dark w/e. Research 'Alien Proteins' for 2 machines: one builds into a wall and harvests flesh from dead biters that have attacked and a second to process it into Bug Burgers (big hp restore and perhaps regen?).
