[Solved] Linux Server error after a few minutes

[Solved] Linux Server error after a few minutes

Hi,

i installed a headless server on an ubuntu 64x 14.04 vServer.
After a few mintes i get this Error:

Same exact error, was interested to see you posted only 7 hours ago.

The error is "Server is not responding"

My best guess is that it's trying to save but doesn't have permission as I've only been getting this error when the auto-save feature is supposed to go off - However this doesn't make sense as /opt/factorio (as well as factorio-init and factorio-updater) have R W and E permissions (and into the sub dir with chown +R.

If it helps, my set-up is:

Linux (Headless) - Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
Factorio installed in /opt/factorio (Under users "factorio")

Factorio auto start script and updater are installed;
commands are:
disallow commands (Peer to peer is disabled)

Figured out the issue which may also help you out!
My folders within the /opt/ directory had R W E for the users "factorio" but the files within /opt/factorio-init/ were not (they were 'Root' as I git cloned them as root). What you need to do is either

As Root:
This would be for the entire opt folder (only do this if it's only factorio inside)

Code: Select all

chown -R factorio:factorio /opt/
OR

Code: Select all

chown -R factorio:factorio /opt/factorio-init

Code: Select all

chown -R factorio:factorio /opt/factorio-updater
