Probably not a bug so much as an inconvenience and/or unintended consequence.
I cannot get on a rocket and launch into space with Upgrade Planners or Deconstruction Planners in my inventory. This doesn't really make sense to me on why these would be considered physical items blocked from transport. They're more like shortcuts, are they not? I don't like having to stow them away somewhere or just delete them until I need them again. It's a little annoying.
[2.0.14] Riding rocket to space does not allow upgrade planners or deconstruction planners personal inventory
Re: [2.0.14] Riding rocket to space does not allow upgrade planners or deconstruction planners personal inventory
Thanks for the report. This is currently working as intended to avoid additional confusion in the message given to players. "Inventory must be empty, except armor, also some items are ok, ..."
If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.

Thanks for the reply!
That's my point, though. They're not items, really. You can access them down in the quick-bar just like you can remotes, wire, etc. They only "act" as items when you need to configure special information within them.
So, if we're only going to consider them as items sometimes, can we get a special place to store them like in a planners book? Similar to how we store and retrieve blueprints?
It'd also be an added layer of convenience if the rocket would automatically put them into storage whenever you opt to travel into space.
I cannot be the only one that finds getting rid of them annoying.

Re: [2.0.14] Riding rocket to space does not allow upgrade planners or deconstruction planners personal inventory
It has issues with remote view, but are you aware of the blueprint library? if you press B from most places, you'll get access to a special sort of inventory only for blueprints / planners. theres two tabs: on is stored in your game installation, so is accessible from all your saves, and the other is saved to the current world, and is accessible by all players (in multiplayer). You can also put things from this inventory into your hotbar. and moving the blueprint from your inv to the blueprint library, doesnt break the hotbar link. it all just kinda works.
So, if its an option, consider storing blueprints and planners in there! its super useful, saves inventory space, and is exactly the same number of keypresses to get to / from when needed

Re: [2.0.14] Riding rocket to space does not allow upgrade planners or deconstruction planners personal inventory
Thanks for that! I was aware of the blueprint library and adding them to the hotbar, though I think I did overlook that I can have it linked to blueprints within the blueprints directory, without actually having them in my inventory. If that works with planners, that's all I need; however, I have a somewhat organized mess in my blueprints directory, and while I knew I could store planners in there, I really didn't want that extra clutter. Was hoping for something specifically for planners.
Since ticking the 'Trees/Rocks only' does virtually nothing for Vulcanus and Fulgora, I have to manually add filters for each given planet, and previously mentioned inconveniences arrive when having to get rid of it from my inventory when not saving it.
So, having thought about this more, I now understand a workaround, however, two things could improve this workflow.

- Dedicated storage for planners.
- Modify the 'Trees/Rocks only' tick to be inclusive for all planets
- Maybe name it 'Landscape features only' and go ahead and throw cliffs into that category
- Combination of the two is ideal
Re: [2.0.14] Riding rocket to space does not allow upgrade planners or deconstruction planners personal inventory
yeah the extra clutter can be annoying, especially when some planners feel one off compared to blueprints. FWIW i usually have a book in the library where i store important planners (upgrade and decon both work), then have a specific hotbar for those planners. an idea that i iterated on from someones balancer book (raynquist's), where they had all balancers in blue, then upgrade planners for red / yellow
Re: [2.0.14] Riding rocket to space does not allow upgrade planners or deconstruction planners personal inventory
If you want to avoid confusion from the tooltip, you could just quietly allow for planners in the inventory without explicitly telling the player. This has the downside of, well, not telling the player. But at least anyone who tried would discover it.
A second option would be to allow planners to 'stay' in the hotbar. That is, currently you can put a planner in your hotbar and it will function if that specific planner item is in your inventory or your blueprint library, but it won't function if it isn't. So instead, it could just keep functioning. All the other player-facing functionality for making this work is already there; you can edit it directly from the hotbar via right click, and move it into inventories or such by pressing the hotkey to put it into your cursor slot and then treating it as any other item.
Though, in fairness, this functionality would be somewhat redundant because,as mentioned, you can already place a planner into your blueprint library and use it directly from there.
