Since the space age update, every time I have closed factorio my computer has frozen within 30 minutes. The freeze is quite odd. I often maintain a little ability to interact with things that reduces quickly. But most windows won't update: including task manager and the clock on the task bar. I have been unable to force a restart without cycling power. This last time I took a nap, and the PC was frozen to a time 3 hours ago.
Most of my drivers are comparably up to date, I used Snappy driver installer a couple months ago. I am up to date on windows updates and nVidia drivers.
Attached is the dxdiag.
I will be doing a virus scan, but I doubt there is one. I have only ever gotten them from connecting compromised networks or USBs and my desktop hasn't had any reason to connect to either.
I can replicate this on a video call if needed. I don't know if anyone else has the same issue but it should be easy for them.

Re: Game closure associated with system freeze
Thanks for the report however once Factorio exits we have no control over what the operating system does. This sounds like unstable and or failing hardware. There is a chance, although quite small - that something we're doing is causing the operating system to become unstable. But, if that's happening - for sure we would want to let the operating system developers know so they can fix it on their side.
If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.
Re: Game closure associated with system freeze
This is still happening as of 2.0.0.12.
No malware. Hardware is stable when I test it but I will test again.
I very much understand this may not be your fault/responsibility. I just think it is good to give you a heads up; because it only happens in the context of your software.

Re: Game closure associated with system freeze
You describe the symptoms of a driver deadlock. I doubt it's anything related to pagefile and I/O.
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windo ... -detection
I have had similar symptoms with AMD's driver and a poorly performing HDMI cable (4K60). If booted with the cable inserted and monitor ON, it would deadlock everything storage related within 5-15s on desktop. Explorer might open, but all navigation breaks. No Start menu; shutdown.exe doesn't work. All I could do is move the mouse around.
I have no idea how much expertise it'd take to setup the above driver verifier and debugger too, let alone the debugging process itself. I haven't tried yet mostly because I suspected a hardware issue at first. You can try a separate fresh Windows install at first, with the same win+updates and GPU driver versions and as little other drivers and programs as possible. Then try oldest compatible and newest GPU drivers; install the rest and hope you'll find the culprit this way? Not that I really recommend all this hassle, but it'll give you a working-not working configuration. If you don't have a spare empty storage disk, beware of not breaking your current OS install in the process...

Re: Game closure associated with system freeze
Well I set the debugger and verifier up. Thanks for the idea.
