Solar farm with perfect ratio

I made this solar farm some time ago and thought I would share it now.

This blueprint is only 4 * 4 substations big but you can place 4 or even 9 of them in a square and make your own bigger blueprint.

I play vanilla unfortunately but I was kinda interested in IR. Maybe I'll give IR a try after lauchning a rocket in vanilla (This will probably never happen. I played Factorio for about 550 hours and didn't lauch a single rocket...).

So about 3% of the area of your blueprint does not supply any power at all to the factory. Conclusion: removing roboports would increase the power-per-space ratio of your blueprint, and you could fill the "empty space" with more panels/accus.

I'm doing the same.
Depending on how crazy I go with lights in my factory, real accu/solar ratio can shift quite a bit towards more accus anyway.

I noticed something with solar panel layouts. Technically a "normal" 18x18 substation in the middle design wastes space,32 to be exact. (I had never thought to fill it with accumulators before seeing the OP's blueprint, oops!) There's a way to use normal power poles to waste less space, but making a three solar wide 10 panel or so tall rectangle of solar panels with power poles in 1x3 gaps up the middle. It's only a little bit of less overall space (more space is taken up by power poles vs substations, but there's less wasted, so slightly higher space efficiency) but in large set-ups it could provide slightly higher density needed.

You can always take your perfect ratio blueprint but replace every solar panel / accumulator with a field of solar panels or accumulators. Scale it up oh some 100 times.

Since your consumption of energy is not continuous and perfect, why should your providing ratio should be ?
I try to do 1:0.9 to ensure I have enough accus, and due to laser consumption which is not intended nor predictable.
