Free service to run your server: Factorio Zone

When the 0.15 releases started rolling out, I noticed that I was repeating the same steps to upgrade my headless server. Much like the spirit of the game, I started to automate those steps. Two weeks ago, I decided to go even further and make it into a service for others to use. It’s experimental at this point, however it’s ready to use now.

Simply go to https://factorio.zone and click the start button. In seconds you'll have a headless server. It's that easy.

I would appreciate any feedback. If there is sufficient interest, I will continue to add functionality.

I've added the ability to download and upload your saves. For now the upload limit is 10MB.

Anything custom that needs to be installed on the server side is not supported yet. I plan to look into it.

Scenarios from the base game are supported if you upload a save that was started with one.

I dont know if this is server fault or not, but the server sometimes not respond.

Can you provide any details about when it doesn't respond? The steps you took or a way to reproduce it would be helpful to diagnose if it's a problem with the server. If you could, see if you can ping the IP when it's not responding.

Can you provide any details about when it doesn't respond? The steps you took or a way to reproduce it would be helpful to diagnose if it's a problem with the server. If you could, see if you can ping the IP when it's not responding.

Sometimes its not responding when I have high activity on big factory, also when I play in save which has many combinators in it (which always updated per tick), it makes the website not responding too (I open the website on another PC).

you have same savefiles for each PC connected to this services, even different browser can have different user connected

when you have limited save slot (5/user), but have 3 PCs and for each PC has 3 different browsers, you can have 45 save slots .

That is not supported yet. How long are you expecting to not have users connected to the server?

Part of how I'm able to offer this service for free relies on shutting down idle instances after 1 hour (which are saved). The idea is to share the resources and only have servers running when needed (you can simply start it again from the save).
